Giving

The Biological Systems Engineering Department is highly respected among its peers in the country and remains committed to excellence in teaching, research and outreach.

The funding provided by the Commonwealth to Virginia Tech has continuously declined over the past few years. Currently, the state funding represents only 32 percent of Virginia Tech's annual budget. State budget shortfalls have impacted all programs at Virginia Tech, including our own. Therefore, private giving is vital if we are to maintain and improve the high quality of our programs. Your contributions provide scholarships for students, enhance their learning experiences, improve our facilities and help us retain and attract eminent professors to the department. Gifts and donations can make a difference between a good and excellent department. Giving is a critical component of keeping the BSE department competitive with other top programs in the world.

Gifts can be designated to any program at the University. You can securely make a pledge by clicking our secure online pledge form. Here you can make a payment on an existing pledge; make a gift using credit card; request information on donating securities, making a planned gift or using electronic funds from your checking account. When completing this form, please designate your gift directly to the Biological Systems Engineering Department by selecting "Other Designation" and specifying "BSE", along with any other specific designation information you would like to include.

If you are affiliated with a company that matches contributions to higher education, please contact your company's human resources department to learn about your company's matching gift policies. Virginia Tech receives a sizable amount of gifts from company matching funds, thanks to donors like you who request the form from their participating employers and send it to Virginia Tech with their gifts.

Thank you to all of our donors! Your support is critical to our department's growth. We encourage you to come back to campus to see the positive impact of your donations.
