Focus: Emergent Contaminants (PFAS), GIS, Private well water, hydrology, hydrogeology
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a class of forever chemicals that have been identified as emergent contaminates in drinking water by the EPA. Nick is researching the geospatial trends of PFAS in private drinking water supplies throughout Virginia. This helps fill in a gap of PFAS incidence in water supplies and can help identify hotspots of PFAS that can be remediated down the road.
