Feidra Gjata
Feidra Gjata, is a junior in Biological Systems Engineering on the biotechnology track. She is pursuing minors in Biomedical and Green Engineering. She is interested in a career in pharmaceuticals, with an emphasis on how bioengineering can be applied to make the industry more sustainable.
This summer, she conducted research for Dr. Ali on creating biosensors to test for mastitis in dairy cows, as well as creating sensors that test for calcium, phosphate, and iron in different settings.
Outside of BSE, Feidra is involved in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), where she is a member of the education outreach committee that seeks to increase interest in STEM fields in local K-12 schools. Additionally, when not in the classroom, you can often find Feidra painting, reading, hammocking, and visiting new places in Blacksburg with her friends.
