The department's home since 1940, Seitz Hall houses the main office, classrooms, faculty offices, equiment and research facilities. The building is home to teaching labs equipped for modern engineering practices.
The 93,500 square foot LEED-certified HABB1 building is designed to incorporate open workspaces and communal areas for faculty, students, and industry to work collaboratively.
The Prices Fork Research Facility is used for field-scale research and as a staging area for field research. The farm offers work space for researchers to construct laboratory flume models and field monitoring equipment. The facility is also available to conduct both large and small scale plot studies and other scaled experiments under natural climatic conditions. A lined pond on site serves as a reservoir for experiments requiring large flow rates.
Additional Research Areas
While most research spaces are housed in the department spaces, some are housed within other departments for easier collaborations or located in the Greater Washington D.C. area.
