Water Quality Laboratory
The Water Quality Laboratory (WQL) in the Biological Systems Engineering (BSE) department provides support for BSE students and faculty involved in stream and wetland ecology engineering research, and extension projects related to water quality. Specifically, the physical, ecological, and biogeochemical processes within stream and wetland systems that alter the transport of material from the landscape through river networks is explored. The Analytical Laboratory (HABB1 352) houses instrumentation for the analysis of nutrients, anions, fluorescence, water and carbon isotopes, and different carbon species found in surface and ground waters. The Water Quality Laboratory (HABB1 358) houses laboratory space for faculty and graduate students’ research projects, and serves as general laboratory space for the WQL. Reagents and standards necessary for instrumentation, and field and laboratory experiments are prepared here.
