Grace McHenry

a young woman smiling at the camera.

Grace McHenry is from Carol Stream, Illionis and is a Senior in BSE on the Ecological Engineering track. She is also minoring in Wetland Science and Green Engineering. In the future she hopes to work in the restoration field, potentially focusing on stream or wetland environments.

The past two summers she has interned with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County as an intern with the Planning and Development department. There she worked closely with a BMP monitoring project for impacted wetland areas and helped design restoration projects for various areas around the county.

At Virginia Tech, Grace works for the Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity (CEED) as a Peer Leader for their freshman mentoring program. Here she works closely with mentors to help them lead a group of freshmen students throughout their first year. She is also very involved with Lambda Iota Mu, a service fraternity centered around environmental and wildlife conservation. Within this organization she serves as Service Coordinator, working closely with community partners within the NRV to plan and create service events for members to help give back to our environment.

Grace is very grateful for BSE faculty and staff. She cares deeply about this department and can not wait to share more about it with prospective students!
