Justin Lytle

Justin Lytle is a senior from Liberty Township, Ohio, pursuing a degree in Biological Systems Engineering (BSE). He is taking classes in both the ecological engineering and biotechnology routes, with interest in vaccine development and water quality. While at Tech, he has been involved in both environmental (Pruden Lab and Edwards Lab) and biological systems labs (Krometis Lab and Wright Lab). He has done work on Legionella pneumophila, galvanic corrosion on lead solder in copper pipes, permeability of organic/inorganic gasses through PEX, private drinking water in rural Appalachia, and nanobody display in yeast. He is currently working on submitting a publication on private drinking water from 792 households in rural Appalachia. Beyond graduating with a BSE degree, Justin plans to go to graduate school and get a PhD in BSE with Dr. Krometis.

Justin is currently involved in the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and the Microbiology Club. He is a mentor for BSE undergraduates and is a volunteer at the Montgomery Animal Shelter, where he enjoys his time walking and training dogs. He also enjoys playing soccer, exercising, learning/reading, and being with family/friends.

Justin is very passionate about BSE and is grateful for the amazing faculty/community within the department. He is excited to help grow the department and introduce new students to the program.
